Systems Design

As part of a project planning phase, or as a standalone service, VMD applies a consistent and expert approach to the design and architecture of system components. To ensure successful system implementations, VMD engages in architecture tasks which address each system's usability, workflow, data storage, and business logic design, including:

• Iterative design, optimization, and documentation of system workflow processes
• Entity Relationship Diagram design to identify critical system entity relationships
• Database schema design and documentation
• Business layer component design
• User interface wireframes, composites, and usability considerations

System Development

VMD has a broad range of development expertise covering the industry's most widely used database platforms, development frameworks, and front-end technologies. Early on in the project's planning phase, VMD will work with each client to determine the technology platforms which will result in the most effective implementation based on manageability, environmental factors, cost and time constraints, and existing investments. VMD commonly and expertly implements a wide array of technology platforms, including:

• Web based application technologies utilizing Microsoft's .Net Framework, ASP classic, Java (J2EE), JSP, PHP, ColdFusion, and others
• Database platforms including SQL Server (all versions), Oracle, MySQL, and Informix
• Usability and scripting technologies, including CSS, Javascript, XHTML, XSL, and others

System Integration

As experienced system integrators, VMD has an expert knowledge of matching customer needs with available customizable product platforms, and fostering connectivity between business systems. Through a broad range of technical skillsets, our team has the ability to leverage existing product investments, and to recommend new platforms which support business needs for the long term. As knowledge areas regarding systems integration are broad, VMD relies on the following to accommodate business needs:

• Develop system components for interoperability, supporting Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), specifically Web Service-enabled components
• Leverage and programatically access legacy systems through exposed APIs, custom import procedures, and other supported methods
• Integrate and customize COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) software products for use within the organization
