Deepti Malhotra, CEO

As CEO of VMD, Ms. Malhotra provides day-to-day management and oversight of VMD. Ms. Malhotra experience spans across several disciplines in Healthcare for both the public and private sectors.

Prior to VMD Ms. Malhotra was a Senior Manager at The Lewin Group where she helped to build the Healthcare IT division. Additional areas of expertise include program evaluation, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, data policy studies, and community assessments. Ms. Malhotra holds a master's degree in Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center and an undergraduate degree in Biology from Washington University.

Vivek Malhotra, President

Vivek Malhotra, founder and President of VMD Systems Integrators, is a leader with a history of more than a decade of experience providing IT services to the government and private industry.

Mr. Malhotra has held various roles ranging from executive management to technical management and business development spanning across multiple disciplines including: system design and requirements, system architecture, application development, and data modeling. Prior employers include Oracle Corporation, Alcatel, Thomson Financial, Titan Corporation, and Etensity.

As a result of his vast industry experiences, Mr. Malhotra has published several articles and tutorials on developing wireless and web-based applications on the IBM DeveloperWorks web site. Mr. Malhotra holds a master's degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from Washington University and Computer Science from Knox College.

Michael Brokaw, Director of Consulting Services

Mr. Brokaw oversees VMD's software development methodologies and provides subject matter expertise in market analysis and corporate strategy. He has led efforts at both government agencies as well as commercial organizations to refine and adopt CMM processes while delivering enterprise software solutions. His current technology focus includes federal identity management initiatives, data warehouse and reporting, and developing strategies for migrating legacy applications to new technologies.

Prior to joining VMD, Mr. Brokaw served as the Director - Strategy Consulting Services for DDLabs, a software development and consulting firm. While at DDLabs, he spearheaded the strategy behind the company's business model shift from project-based consulting to offshore technology development, while simultaneously leading the firm's Strategy Consulting practice. Mr. Brokaw began his career in the Investment Banking industry where gained expertise in the analysis of market trends and financial statements of public companies.

Andrew Burtle, Vice President of Client Services

Mr. Burtle heads up VMD's project delivery organization and is a key architect of its operational growth strategy. He brings over 15 years of management experience in the information technology and financial services industries, with an IT background in program management, account management, project management and quality assurance for commercial and government clients. Mr. Burtle has built a successful track record in companies ranging from Fortune 500 enterprises as well as start-up ventures.

Mr. Burtle joins VMD from SRA International, where he served as Director of Operations for its Civil Sector business. Prior to SRA, Mr. Burtle was President of Brain Power Solutions, VP of Consulting Services for Etensity, and Senior Manager for NDC Group. Mr. Burtle holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and a Masters degree in Business Administration from George Mason University.

Teresa Waitzman-Bannister, Ph.D., Vice President of Proposal Development and Quality Assurance

Dr. Terry Bannister leads the proposal and quality assurance efforts of VMD, and also provides process reengineering assistance on one of VMD's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contracts. Dr. Bannister has more than 20 years of experience in the information technology industry with a background in proposal development involving software development, systems engineering, business process reengineering, telecommunications, training, and program management.

Additionally, Dr. Bannister also has a broad range of experience in quality assurance practices, and has successfully lead several companies' through ISO 9001:2000 registrations and SEI CMMI appraisals; she will lead VMD's pursuit of both. She is a certified ISO 9001:2000 Lead Auditor and a candidate Lead Appraiser for the Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).

In the operational arena, Dr. Bannister has established multiple business units, marketed and won several revenue-generating engagements, and obtained several follow-on contracts, demonstrating her emphasis on customer satisfaction as well as the on-time and within budget delivery of services. In addition, she has demonstrated expertise in program and personnel management.

Prior to joining VMD, Dr. Bannister was the Assistant Director for the Chenega Corporation Service Center; Vice President of Proposal Development for FC Business Systems, Inc.; Vice President of Quality Assurance for STG, Inc.; Senior Quality Assurance Manager for the Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Program Management Office (PMO); Vice President for Quality Consulting Services for SIGNAL Corporation; and Executive Director for Quality Assurance and the Director of Proposal Development for Automation Research Systems, Limited.

Christopher Scordo, Technical Director

Mr. Scordo provides VMD with technical leadership, account management, and operational strategy with a focus on both government and private sector clients. From September 2001 to October 2003, Mr. Scordo served as the Director of Technology for InPhonic, a publicly traded wireless services company. There he played a key role in managing client relationships and coordinating widely dispersed software development teams.

Before his tenure with InPhonic, Mr. Scordo had co-founded Skyware Group, a professional services firm located in New York City, which was acquired in 2001. Mr. Scordo also helped found the Mobile Solutions Practice for Etensity, a Mid-Atlantic professional services firm, where he worked as a lead developer and software architect. Mr. Scordo has additionally held diverse consulting and leadership positions focused on software development and technical management.

Mr. Scordo holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), and is a member of the Washington, DC chapter of PMI. Additionally, Mr. Scordo holds a Foundation Certificate for IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Al Craven, Vice President of Managed Services

As Vice President of Managed Support Services, Mr. Craven has line-of-business responsibility for VMD's offerings providing facility operations and other services to government agencies throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

With nearly 30 years in management, including more than 16 years in federal contracting, he has managed highly successful transitions and has directly managed or provided senior management oversight for contracts supporting the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Federal Communications Commission, Department of Agriculture, Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Education, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Department of Justice, Department of Labor, Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Treasury Department, Fannie Mae Corporation, and a number of commercial clients. Mr. Craven came to VMD from NATEK, Inc., where he served as Vice President of Management Services and later as Chief Operating Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bloomsburg University and completed additional studies in economics and computer science. He had careers in education, the news media, and public relations before entering the federal contracting arena. A former member of the U.S. Atomic Industrial Forum and the U.S. Committee on Energy Awareness, he has been a frequent speaker on the subject of quality programs in the managed services business.

Les W. Stovall, Director of IT Security

Mr. Stovall is VMD’s security practice lead, responsible for internal IT security and client deliverables on security projects. Mr. Stovall has over 15 years experience in Information Technology, specializing in Information Security since 2000. He is a subject matter expert in computer security, having both hands on and managerial experience in firewalls, IDSs, security policies and procedures, and Certification and Accreditation (C&A). He holds various technical and security certifications, including the CISSP and CAP, has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, and is pursuing a Masters in Information Systems. He is also trained and certified in Computer Forensics.

Mr. Stovall comes to VMD from Security First Consulting, where he was Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, responsible for all security consulting engagements and client deliverables. Prior to SFC, he was Director of Federal Security for Breakwater Security Associates, and worked at both private and non-profit firms such as Battelle, BlueStorm Consulting, and UUNet Technologies.
