The Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) provides management, cost analysis and inventory tracking to hundreds of medical facilities worldwide through its ODRS data reporting system. It is critical that military installations have the technology necessary to collect, report and analyze operational data to efficiently manage each facility's medical requirements.
Through a partnership with Lockheed Martin Federal Healthcare, VMD has supported the military's initiatives through a multi-year engagement to provide technical management, software design, and development implementation services.
The ASBP has a distributed database system capturing and reporting information at remote locations, but an interface upgrade was required to collect and push data from this database. The upgrade deployment was cancelled, and a secondary solution was required in order to successfully accomplish the original requirements of the project.
Once engaged, the VMD technical team provided a deep review of the current system architecture to identify strengths, weaknesses, and inefficiencies. VMD then implemented system modifications to optimize application features such as data collection, user security privileges and application logic. An internal system was also put in to place allowing for the streamlining and prioritizing of system feature requests, ensuring that critical needs were met in a timely and responsive fashion.
All activities were performed under existing funding, providing a superior value to the initiative underway.
Following system implementation, VMD now works on an ongoing basis to provide technical management and maintenance of the overall system architecture. VMD is also working to ensure superior response in addressing software issues and usability, and additional design, development and implementation of application features
